Guide to authors of abstracts for
the European Conference of Paediatric Anaesthesia
Berlin 2 - 4  September 2010


 

Abstracts for the European Conference of Paediatric Anaesthesia should be submitted online via the website:

Abstracts will be submitted to a blinded review and, if accepted, selected for oral or poster presentation. Please take note that the decision for the type of presentation will be made by the Scientific Committee.
Oral presentations will be organised as chaired 10 minutes presentations : 7 minutes slide presentation + 3 minutes discussion. The six best abstracts will be entered for the ESPA Free Paper Prize session.
Posters should be size A0 portrait style (i.e. approximately 108 x 75 cm).: a poster discussion will be organized in front of the poster
All abstracts may be published in the Proceedings of the Conference and on the website of the ESPA.
The 14 best abstracts will be published in the journal "Pediatric Anesthesia".

Instructions for typing the abstract

* Open a new Word file and label it with the title of your abstract
* Set margins at 2.5 cm all round
* Select Times New Roman 11 point font
* Write the title in BOLD CAPITALS.
* Type in the text of the abstract following the instructions to authors in Pediatric Anesthesia. References (maximum 3) should be cited in Vancouver style.
* Use the following headings for a structured layout: Introduction with specified aim or hypothesis, Methods, Ethics Committee approval if appropriate, indicate statistical tests used, Results and Discussion with a succinct conclusion.
* One figure or table is permitted which should be incorporated into the text.
* The complete abstract should not exceed one page or 450 words (including any table or figure).
* Acknowledge any source of financial support at the end of the abstract.

 Special instructions for online submission

* Once you have registered on the abstract website you will be sent a password
* Log in using your email address and password 
* Complete your submission by copy/pasting your abstract in the required field
* Do not forget to fill in all the required entries
* If you wish to submit more than one abstract you can download a new template from the website or save the one you have with a new name and paste in the new abstract.

The closing date for abstracts is 1st June 2010

 

Authors will be notified by the end of June 2010 by e-mail about acceptance.
